Jan26, 2002....

The Club had a Ride Scheduled for today, the 26 th....It had been Semi Canceled.....Weather had been dumping a lotta snow and were not sure if we could get around in it......  Jean had sent an E-Mail to the  List.....To call me if anybody wanted to go.... I got carried away in the morning  with a few things around home....We had to Ship a Couple of Horses, and I Had to Plow the Driveway..... I had to go to Odell too....On my way back I decided to see what the  snow was like at he unloading spot... The Weather turned out to be Beautifull........I headed up to the unloadin spot.... it  was only a  couple a miles from home.....Hey......  Some of the  Peeps  had Unloaded  and were Gone.......I  went back home and was about to pull the rope on my Trail Indy to Load It  when the Phone Rang...
It was Jerry ....... Hey  "Where Ya At....  Get Ya Butt Up Here".....I  was already in the process of  loadin up ......I was  there in about 15 minutes....They ( the Farring and Thomas Clans )2 Jims&Wives and 2 Jerrys( 6 Sleds) had Ulterior Motives..... They had run up to the Owens Ranch and turned left on the Longview Fibre Rd and had gone around to the PowerLines and the Snow got too deep.... They said  they had done a  lotta gettin stuck....They just wanted another Fresh Body to help dig em out.......hehe

We  Unloaded about a Mile              We headed up 17 and Turned East on the PowerLines
from Hwy 35                                   It was Heavy Going for a couple a miles... We broke out on a
Semi Plowed Road....Had about a foot of new Snow on it
We Run that out till the snow was runnin out too......

We Made a loop to the North thru  some Thick Second Growth Reprod  and Realtitively
Unmaintained Roads....We Got Stuck a few times too.... And I keep forgetting to Take Pix
Too.........It was me a couple a  times too..... Hooked up with Brush I  thought My Ski's
would go  over..... No  Serious Sticks.....  About 8-10 Miles... Ya   had to be carefull how ya
went.... Lots of Body English ... We got back to 17 & the  PowerLines Safely.... and were mulling
whether to head back.....Jim thought we outta  see if we could make Long Prairie..... So off we headed....It was young Jim's Idea so He  Led..... the Snow was almost as much as Harold and I
had had on Monday.. Jim and His Sled (Long Track RXL)was Gettin Snowed
This is what His Sled looked like at Long Prairie....... If his Windshield had been Higher...there would have been more Snow  Piled up on It

The Rest of Us stopped under a Tree

We were makin it OK by  this point.....Jim suggested......."Lets see if  We can get to Gibson Prairie"
So Off He Went.......We were a bout 100' from the Junction.......Around the corner the Snow got Easier for some reason....... I was wonderin why..... Couldnt see it at first.......Harold and My Tracks
from Monday werent Showin..... Nothin.......The Groomer had come from Brooks Meadows.....
Musta been Thursday  or Friday......"Saints be Praised"........Snow varied from 1 to 2  feet all
the way to  The Meadows ..... Bout Half Way  I took over the Lead Again.....And Pinned it all the
Way to the Meadows.... "I was in 7th Heaven"......Had to back off under Mill Creek Butte.... The Road had Corniced in again...
We All made it uneventfull....

It was pushin 5 PM and was acting like it might get Dark on Us

I  took this last one at the Brooks Meadows & 44 Junction.....It  was an  Easy Fast Ride back to the Rigs..... We had good Broken Trails all the way back
I put just over 40 Miles on my Odometer.....I was Late.....The Others musta done over 50 Miles
The Sun had been peekin out  till Mid Afternoon, then it started Snowin again.....

All in All a Fantastic  Day  ;-))
