Man did we find the Powder... It has been snowing .. Sat
the 19th had about a foot of new Powder... Did some Riding that day......
Sunday the 20th was Windy and Rainy in the Valley....Stayed Home .....
The Meadows Telemetry Site had recorded over 4' of New Snow the 24 Hrs
ending 8 AM the 21st....
Harold and I Unloaded at the Owens Ranch on 17, at Noon...at
about 2800' elevation in a Foot of New Snow.... We headed
toward Long Prairie.... Just Short of Long Prairie we stopped for
the first time and I took a few Pix....at about 3500' elevation...
All these Pix were taken at this time... Knee Deep......Started
coming over the Windshields about a half mile from the Pickups
We stopped to clear things.... Not Stuck yet either
The Snow really was coverin us up
Harold had to keep movin to keep warm
He's keepin that Sled on the Road....... He has to work at it
like this most of the time
Thats the Riding Style that was the norm for this day.....
We ended going on to Brooks Meadows, and on to Little John
on Hwy 35
There were about 8 Sleds in the Snow Park..... They had made
about a Mile
up to first SwitchBack and had given up.....We were coming down hill
so we
made it fine......At Brooks Meadows on our way down we saw that a
couple a
Sleds had come from Billy-Bob SnoPark, to the East
.... and had headed up into the Trees just west of Brooks Meadows...
We decided
to head up toward High Prairie and Make Sure they had gotten
out of the
Trees OK.. The last place they could have gotten out was Just
Above
Horkela Meadows..... I was leading and hadn't noticed Harold jump off
the
road and into Horkela Meadows and Sink ......His First Stick.... I
was just making
headway myself..... About 1/2 mile up I saw the Other Sleds had
made it out OK..
I Turned up on a Slight Bank and was working toward A wide turn
and run outta
go too..... it took 2 tries after a bunch of Shovel Work
to get headed back... My
First Stick.....I didnt try to measure the New Snow there.... ......
It was Waist Deep
The Weather was fair.....We saw the Sun a couple
a times even
Was Snowin most of the time.....Weather was changing for the
worse and it
was almost White Out..... 50-100' Visibility by then ..... We
Headed Home......
I fell off a Cornice at one point and Nailed it too hard and
went up the bank too
far and got a tree between my Bumper and Ski.... Reverse is nice
sometimes.....
No Damage........We Got in about 45 miles on the Odometer..... Had
half a tank of
gas left too.... These Newer Big Mtrs do really quite well in
Mileage dept
I'm Sorry....... I didnt get any more Pix after the First
Stop..... We were
concentrating on riding most of the time and Trying to clear our Goggles
and
Warming Our Gloves to think of Pictures.... Damnit..... and
there were some
good shots to be had too.......Maybe Next Time.......................
