Mike, Mitch, and I Headed up 44 Sat Mornin
The weather was just right, It hadnt frozen the night before so the
snow was soft enough to make the ride pleasant... The FS opened the road
so we could get out Sleds to the Snow...We unloaded at the first Switchback
and went the first 1/2 mile and Ate about another 1/2 mile of bare pavement
in the next 2 miles... We should have tried to break thru the first area...O'well.....
This is what the Snow was like around the Horkela Meadows Area
Its goin away fast
There was enough In the Meadows for the guys to get a little air
Mitch just cant get enough Jumpin in
Mike gettin his nose up a little
Mike got on a Sled for the first time only a week ago.....He's about hooked... hehe
Mitch gave us a view of the Underside of his Sled.. Hehe
It was a little harder up on High Prairie
The Shelter still had Snow level with the floor...About 8 feet
We wandered on down toward the Flag Point rd...Bare Pavement about 1/2 mile
in from 44 so we didnt go any further.... Didnt see anybody from The Dalles
side anywhere.....
We couldnt resist Yamaha Hill either...Ya had to watch out for Stumps...
It was mostly Pleasant except for Mitch... He had an unexpected Hang Up
Just as he was coming up the rock to launch the Snow fell in on him... He
went over the windshield and darn near went over the cliff himself....
It was a hard stop and
now the Left Side is a little shorter than the Right..... We pulled Him up
on the Rock and He had to jump off then with no run at it.....
He did get a good run the next try and I goofed up with the cam.. DamnIt
We made it back OK....Snow was Great, with just a skiff of new Snow up high..
Gonna have to try to break thru with the pickups next time, the area
just around from the Switch Back to get in any more riding up there, or rig
some Wheels for the Ski's
Enuff for Now
